Seamless Integration of Blog and Website

Seamless Integration of Blog and Website

If you like the way this WordPress blog you’re reading right now (www.tamarabonet.com/blog) looks, how it matches and flows right along with my website, then you might like to know it’s creator.

Originally, I made up my own website so that I could do my own updates, which is a real blessing in the long run.  It’s a very good skill to have for a lifetime of creating art and adding pictures to websites.  I’ve learned to work with the Dreamweaver program to make new sculpture pages, and then I log in to my server to synchronize the Dreamweaver updates to my online website.  But I didn’t have a blog yet.

At some point, I decided I needed a blog in order to talk to followers of my art online.  I had already been communicating quite a bit on sculpture forums and knew that I had a lot of hits to my website due to that exposure.   Websites with lots of pictures but low on word content do not show up readily in search engines.  In order to have good SEO (search engine optimization) and page ranking, I needed to write a lot,…. on a blog.  And that blog needed to be attached to my website.

First, a person may find my website by typing in search words such as the above titleSeamless Integration of Blog and then see my blog post and click on it.  Hopefully something catches their eye from my website and they might want to search further, viewing my art portfolios. Hence, a new collector will perhaps ensue.

With all that in mind, I didn’t want the blog to be on a white page and stand out as different from my website.  Rather, seamlessly integrating with the same color theme, and photos and links, as the rest of my website, needed to happen.  I searched for the keywords noted above and found a wonderful blog designer by the name of Tom Johnson.  He was very reasonable in his price to make up my blog, and did so on his off hours (he works in the computer industry during the week days).  Here is the link to his wordpress consulting website .   It is called “I’d Rather Be Writing.com.”

I let Tom know that I wanted to have the blog match my website with header showing my Tamara Bonêt signature and sidebar with my fancy fan with links image, etc., etc.  He created the WordPress blog just as I wanted, to match the rest of my website, and I think it looks great! Whenever I want to make updates, adding photos as desired, I can go to WordPress and write my new posts, like I’m doing now, and instantly publish my posts without any help from Tom.  The WordPress interface is easy to work with and navigate.

It’s now been 4 years since I had Tom Johnson of idratherbewriting.com  make up my blog and he’s made a couple updates during that time, and at no charge for the updates even though I offer to pay each time.  Now I’m not saying he will do that for everyone, as he definitely earns his pay since he’s working way past the original job order.  I even trust him with my password to my server website and have never changed it since I gave it to him.  He’s a great guy and I highly recommend him to do your WordPress blog!  You can see for yourself how it turned out for me.  :-)
