Luisa at the Park

Luisa at the Park

Hi friends,

This past month we enjoyed a celebration in the park.  Ron and I shared a booth where he showed his book and I showed sculpture.  It was a beautiful day in the park.  What was a real treat was having some from our congregation there to support us and sit with us near our booth.  Also, Luisa, 90 years of age, the subject of one of my sculptures, came out for the day.  She felt like a star because we were pointing her out as people were looking at the sculpture of her.  :-)

Here’s a few pictures of Luisa that day in the park.

She really was in the mood to dance and even wanted to dance with me. There wasn’t anyone dancing as yet but she thought that if we danced then it would get everyone else out there dancing too. There was a live band and it was such fun and happy music probably from an era that reminded her of times gone by. I had to get back to my booth so a little later my mom told me that she did get to dance. There was a couple that decided to dance and so my mom told the man that Luisa really wanted to dance. So he danced with her for one song. :-) Luisa then danced with her favorite companion named Tinker for many songs.

Luisa wonders why with all the beautiful people in the world that I would want to sculpt her. Is it any wonder why I chose her? Just look at the next pictures of her. Didn’t they turn out wonderful? She is beautiful to me and her spirit is like that of Mother Theresa. You can’t find a more purely loving, kind, generous, thoughtful person than her. She loves everyone and gives of her time and energy to help people as well as those she’s just met. Well, being beautiful inside and out is why I had to sculpt her. Plus she’s my very good friend!

A young woman in her early twenties saw Luisa dancing and thought it would be a great picture so she took the snapshot below. My mom told me that she took the picture so I went to look at it and loved the photo as well. The woman was nice enough to send the photo to me. It is more of a straight on picture of her which is nice too.

Here’s a closeup snapshot of the original Luisa clay sculpture. This is a sketch style of sculpting.

I hope you enjoyed seeing more pics of Luisa and learning of her personality.

I enjoyed your beautiful sculpter of your friend Luisa and I can understand why you wanted to sculp her. I see her beautiful smile and gorgeous cheekbones She may be old now but you can see she was a knock out beauty in her younger days. And she is still beautiful in a way that only her years, experiance and wisdom gained can give her.
Thank you so much for sharing her with us.

Thank you for taking the time to write your nice note. She was a pretty lady as well when she was younger, although she doesn’t think so. Maybe next time when you come down you can meet Luisa too, if you haven’t already. It sure was nice to see you again (beings that we’ve been friends since we were teenagers) and now we get to visit on Facebook. Fun! :-) Take good care, ~Tamara
P.S. I enjoyed getting to see all the pics of your kids, and grandchildren. Hard to believe you’re a grandma!
