Terracotta flower pot and terracotta red rose

Hi friends,

The other day I had a moment to play in clay so I thought I’d experiment.  I made a terracotta flower pot and a terracotta red rose.  My terracotta clay is so pretty and so I thought I’d see how it works to combine it with my white clay.  Well, so far so good except for I haven’t fired it yet.  :-)   That’s the tricky part.  If the terracotta clay shrinks more so than the other then I will have cracking.  

Doing experiments on simple things like this helps me to see how it will go and I can use this information on my serious sculpture.  I may want to combine the clays again when doing figurative work.  Maybe the skin will be terracotta and the clothing in white clay (that will take the glazes in different way than terracotta).

    hi Tamara, you are doing so pretty flowers, always do, and this arrangement with the pot is particulary nice. i love how te colors play together. i wish you luck with the firing !

    Thank you. :-) I put a little bit of the white clay on the leaves also and the pot. I wonder how it will turn out. It didn’t take very long to make so if it blows up it’ll be okay.
